Bates Motel Part II
One of the best parts of the journey is having the river rolling along side of us.
George wanted to stop and have a beer with a few of him homies.
So, George is up, dressed, showered, and packed by 5:30 this morning. He goes out to load the bike when the elderly owner asks him if we are staying another night. (AS IF) George tells him no, so the owner asks him to go up to the utility room and get the two contains and fill them with bird food and throw them in the field for the pigeons. Really, the Bates Motel. We never did meet Sharon. Despite the low rate, and yes there was a flat screen tv and WiFI, and a very small sliver of soap. And some weird people who seem to live there.
We happily roll on down the road and in no time we enter Idaho. Beautiful, corn filled, grassy Idaho. Idaho is a total treat to the senses. Even the manure smells clean! We end up having lunch at a town called Mountain Home. We ate at Wingers, because when I asked the hostess if there was anyplace else, she said, this is the best place other then Wal Mart to eat! Really. She said they were just a country town. So our senses were filled with the glorious scenery of Idaho, out tummies were filled with a yummy lunch (not from Wal mart) and we were headed for Boise.
When we are riding I think non stop about what I will write about. This is a problem. I laugh, I drive myself crazy, it is an obsession, I wear myself out, and then, at night when I finally sit down to write, I am cranky, tired, and can't remember most of what I wanted to write.
After a charming little fight on the bike, over the misuse of the GPS, George expects that I can understand everything Rita is saying on the highway, we finally arrive at the Boise Harley Davidson store. Yeah. By the way Dan, I have been wearing my F.A.T. Riders t shirts and hat for 2 days now. Black Monday/ White Tuesday. I have gotten a few odd looks. This morning George took a picture of me that could be used for our fund raising calendar. I am going to take one of him later. HAHAHAH. By the way, pictures will be added to the blog as soon as APPLE figures out how to allow us to download them onto the perfect little IPAD.
Back to Rita who took us to the nicest hotel room. Of course it goes without saying that after a night at the Bates Motel, Super 8 would be incredible. This room is a castle. We don't want to leave. But we did....tonight George met Sue Jones. George and Sue have been telephone buddies for over 25 years. They met through work and as they had the same birthdays and both had a son named Sam, they kept in contact. Sue lives in Nampa which is right next to Boise so we arranged to have dinner. It was a blast. It was like we always knew each other. Sue will be coming to see us soon.
I hear my little Nook calling. And the very nice bed. So, from Boise, Idaho, this is Jenson and George wishing you all a good night.

ReplyDeleteI'm trying. This is a test
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem writing when I went on my first trip to France. I was so excited to have something to write about, but wi-fi in hotels here barely works. Now when I travel I try to take notes during the day to help me remember, but I'm not sure how easy that will be for you on the back of a motorcycle. :)
